The house material is brick covered stucco with exposed beams and half timbering. Influenced by elements of Japanese, early Spanish Mission, Pueblo and English Tudor architecture, Charles and Henry Greene developed this unique style of architecture now known as the California Bungalow or California Arts and Crafts. Exposed buttresses and stucco structural posts, profiled beams supporting a gently sloping roofline, overhanging eaves providing maximum shade from the Californian sun, wooden sleeping porches, and hanging lanterns are classic elements of this style of regional architecture. The Japanese stone lantern in the circular entrance an original "yuki-mi lantern" intended to be viewed capped with snow. The front porch light fixture with the address is a refurbished original and a trademark for architects Greene & Greene who inscribed addresses on the lanterns of many of the estates they designed.
